I am certain that, dynamic discussions awaiting you the next few days will make this event a most enlightening one. Our university which was established in 1992, is among the most innovative universities of Turkey. Our prior objective has assembled the academic staff around idealism of science and encouraged to be the leaders in the mobilization of science and production. We are a member of European Universities Association (2001) and were awarded European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) label for 2013-2016 by accomplishing the international acreditation process in education. We currently have 247 agreements in 59 departments with 151 universities from 23 countries within the framework of Erasmus. As for 2013, 1165 students from 84 countries prefered our university for bechelor's degree studies. Today, we are gathered to address one of the major of our society: standardization, protypes and quality. The main target of these conferences is that scientists present information from international knowledge and experience on standardization topics, so that Balkan model standarts' background is evaluated, reconsidered and enriched. This conference mainly focuses on the theme 'Protypes-Models in Architecture from Antiquity to the Future" 12th conference of series will be an additional step for the rational and comprehensive entrance of Balkans to the new Era. Furthermore a scientific and social environment will be formed, where Balkan people will harmonically collaborate promoting a development model for the rest of Europe. Beraberce Kocaeli Üniversitesi’ni 21. yüzyıla nasıl taşıyabiliriz? Ortaklaşa neler yapabiliriz? diye sizlerin değerli görüş ve önerilerinizi almak istemiştik. Yüzlerce Kocaeli’liye mektuplar yazdık, onları davet ettik, bir çayımızı için dedik Eksik olmasınlar birçoğu geldi, bazıları işleri nedeniyle gelemedi ama gelemediği için özür diledi, başka bir kez muhakkak geleceğini söyledi, bazıları o kadar dalgın idi ki, cevap vermeyi bile unuttu... Ama biz onları, her Kocaeliliyi yeniden çağıracağız. Sizlerle bütünleşeceğiz. 21. yüzyıla ilk aşamada 21 Büyük Proje ile koşacağız. Değerli Kocaeli’lerden cevap verenlerin görüşlerini bu kitapçıkta topladık, onları daha sonra birlikte değerlendireceğiz, ortak projeler üreteceğiz, bir bölümünü cumhuriyetin 75. kuruluş yıldönümü nedeniyle çağdaş, Atatürkçü üniversitemize hediye edeceğiz.
